Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I might not see you all for a few days as I am going with years 5 and 6 to Wales on our annual residential trip. We are all very excited and have lots of fantastic activities planned so keep your fingers crossed that we have a rain free few days!

Thank you to all children involved in the Lord Mayor’s Parade last Saturday and also to Mr. Morrison for arranging it. The children looked amazing in their outfits and the event was really enjoyable. I would like to thank all the staff who gave up their Saturday to come and accompany the children, we couldn’t do it without them.

We break up for half term this Friday 23rd May at 3:00pm and re-open on Tuesday 3rd June at 8:45am. Monday 2nd of June is a training day for staff so school is not open for children.

Friday 23rd May is a non-uniform day to raise money for school funds so if your child would like to wear their own clothes they can for £1.00.

Can I just remind parents and carers that our school site needs to be a safe place for all involved. Any incidents of violence and aggression, including shouting at our staff or other adults and children, will not be tolerated and the police may be called if necessary. I am sure you will agree with this policy.

Yours sincerely,
Miss C Carr

Food Revolution Day

Last Friday was food revolution day. Food revolution day is a global event aiming to educate children and young people about healthy choices.

As part of food revolution day, over 1 million children in the UK participated in a cooking lesson, led by Jamie Oliver, including year 5.

During the lesson year 5 created rainbow salad wraps, using unusual ingredients. We learnt new skills such as grating, food hygiene and making a simple salad dressing.

At the end of the afternoon we were able to eat our wraps and take a copy of the recipe home. If you would like a copy of the recipe visit http://www.foodrevolutionday.com/rainbow-salad-wrap/

Race for Life

On Sunday 15th June 2014,  a number of staff members will be taking part in Race for Life at Lister Park in Manningham.

It is a 5k event whereby we raise money, through sponsorship, to donate to cancer research. Cancer Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.

By sponsoring us, we can unite and create a force that cancer can’t ignore.

You can help Atlas raise money for this great cause by donating directly to our fundraising page http://www.justgiving.com/Atlas-Community-Primary-School

JustGiving sends your donation straight to Cancer Research UK and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.

You can click on the donate button on the website or send text donations to 70070, in the text write “ATLA55 £1” you can put how much you want to donate and it shall go straight to Cancer Research UK.

Thank you for your support!
